VIDEO: Poor goalie! In Sweden, the sun made him mistake the ball for a penalty spot and the striker had an easy job
The 20-year-old goalkeeper of Swedish Hammarby will not remember the match with Häcken in a good way. He made a fatal mistake in the fifth minute when he mistook the ball for the penalty spot and the striker had no problem putting his team ahead.
The 20-year-old goalkeeper of Swedish Hammarby will not remember the match with Häcken in a good way. He made a fatal mistake in the fifth minute when he mistook the ball for the penalty spot and the striker had no problem putting his team ahead.
The league in Sweden is played on a spring-autumn system, so this weekend is only the second round. Logically, the reigning champion BK Häcken, which is well remembered by the fans of Sparta Prague, has also jumped in.
Häcken won the opening game of the 2023 league season at Elfsborg 2: 0 and in the second round they could look forward to Hammarby, one of their biggest rivals for the title.
It was therefore clear that the slightest mistake could decide this match. But few expected what the visitors’ goalkeeper Oliver Dovin did.
The 20-year-old goalkeeper received a little home from a teammate in the 5th minute and although the striker was coming at him, he still had plenty of time to kick the ball away.
He attempted to do just that, but immediately realised that what he had kicked wasn’t the ball. Because of the harsh sun, he had mistaken it for a penalty spot.
The ball fell behind him and striker Benie Traore had no problem getting it into the net. Suddenly Häcken were 1:0 up and Hammarby were put under unnecessary pressure.
Traore scored two more goals in the first half to complete his hat-trick. Tesfaldet Tekie then reduced the score to 3:1.
