Viktoria Plzeň are battling bravely at the Camp Nou, where they play their first Champions League group stage match of the season. Four goals were scored in the first half, one of them in the home team’s net.
Viktoria Plzen were the underdogs in the match and although they had some semblance of chances, the first goal was scored by Franck Kessié who pounced on a hilarious centre.
After twenty-five minutes it could have been the equaliser, the referee awarded Viktoria Plzen a penalty kick, but after consulting the video he decided to call it off for a foul by Jhon Mosquera.
And when the equaliser didn’t come, it was time to increase the score. Robert Lewandowski scored from the edge of the box. As the half came to a close, however, the Viktoria players rejoiced.
Václav Jemelka got to the deflected ball and with a sensational centre found the head of Jan Sýkora, who took an excellent aim and gave the Catalan goalkeeper no chance.
For the Pilsen winger, this moment is certainly unforgettable. Unfortunately, the 2:1 scoreline didn’t last very long, as Barcelona still came out firing at the end of the first half.
There were several scoring chances from the pressure and one of them was taken by Lewandowski again, who had no problem getting the ball into the empty net after a centre by Ousmane Dembélé. The half-time score was 3-1.
