Argentina defeated Jamaica 3-0 in a friendly match to claim their fourth consecutive victory without conceding a single goal. However, Argentina’s star Lionel Messi scored twice against Jamaica, with the second one especially worth seeing.
On 1 June, Argentina defeated Italy 3-0 in their opening Finalissima match. Lautaro Martinez, Angel di Maria and Paulo Dybala scored for the South American team.
Argentina then played three friendlies – against Estonia (5-0), Honduras (3-0) and most recently against Jamaica (also 3-0).
In addition to keeping a clean sheet in all cases, Messi has scored nine times in the last three matches. He scored five goals in the match against the Estonian national team and two goals each in the other two matches.
He came on for Jamaica in the 56th minute, replacing Lautaro. It must be added, Messi received a solid ovation on his arrival on the pitch.
His first goal, which in fact increased Argentina’s lead to 2-0, came in the 87th minute when he beat goalkeeper Blake with a shot from just outside the sixteen.
The second goal came two minutes later from a direct kick. Instead of heading into the top right corner, Messi chose a better place to finish, namely the bottom left corner.
With the subsequent beautifully placed shot, he not only proved his footballing prowess, but also increased the score to the final 3:0. You can see his precise goal in the video below.
