Football history remembers a huge number of fantastic and unforgettable goals. Many of them were scored by one of the best footballers in history and winner of seven Ballon d’Ors, Lionel Messi.
The man who spent the vast majority of his career at Barcelona has amazed the football world since he was a young boy. And when he broke into adult football, it was no different. He quickly began to make his mark and at the age of 19 he was already having a truly outstanding season.
He didn’t win anything else with Barcelona at the time apart from the Spanish Super Cup, but he did deliver one of the fantastic goals mentioned above in a match against Getafe.
It was 18 April 2007, Barcelona were facing the aforementioned Getafe in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey and Messi was in charge. He scored two goals and added an assist and the Catalans won 5:2.
On one of the goals, Messi took the ball in his own half of the pitch and then sprinted to the opponents’ sixth-quarter box and finished into the open net. On this journey, he managed to nullify practically the entire Getafe line-up.
Messi scored a total of 17 competitive goals that season, to which he added 3 assists. It was the first season in which he played more than 30 competitive matches and in which he crossed the 10 competitive goals mark.
Now, he is shining in a PSG jersey, but it is a return to Barcelona, the club of his heart, that is in the cards. However, the future of the Argentine idol is only speculated and no information is officially confirmed.
