VIDEO: Like Roy Keane? Mason Holgate makes the most brutal tackle of the season! Japan’s Mitoma miraculously escapes uninjured

Brighton gifted home side Sheffield United five goals in the 25th round of the Premier League, just like a few weeks ago. The victory was helped by a situation from the beginning of the match when Mason Holgate deservedly saw a red card for a brutal foul.
The expert and lay public agree that it was one of the most brutal fouls of recent years. And not only in the PL. Then, when one watches the video of that moment, images of Roy Keane ending Alf-Inge Haaland’s career in 2001 spring to mind. Fortunately, in this case, everything turned out well.
25th the Premier League round produced plenty of interesting football moments. But also some that should have nothing to do with football. But first things first. On Sunday afternoon the fans saw the clash between the hopelessly last team of the competition Sheffield and Brighton.
The two teams clashed at Bramall Lane in Sheffield at the end of January in the FA Cup. Back then, Roberto De Zerbi’s charges managed to advance to the eighth-finals of the competition after a wild 2-5 result, where they will face Wolves.
However, the home side wanted to forget about that match and rather follow up on the last league round where they managed to win at Luton. It was Brighton Seagulls who wanted to make up for the failure at Tottenham and repeat the result from the cup game at Sheffield.
Mason Holgate made the most brutal tackle of the season
And it has to be said that they succeeded admirably, albeit mainly thanks to significant help from the home side. Already in the twelfth minute there was a total short-circuit of the stopper Mason Holgate. He brutally trampled the star Japanese Kaoru Mitoma with a save on the edge of the field.
Naturally, there was a melee on the pitch, especially when referee Stuart Attwell showed the wondering culprit only a yellow card. But here VAR rightly intervened and the English referee sent the offender straight to the showers after watching replays. And it should be noted that quite rightly.
Holgate absolutely missed the ball and dangerously stepped on the Japanese player’s foot. He can be glad that the shot wasn’t a few centimetres lower and avoided direct contact with his knee. Even the fact that Mitoma played 76 minutes in the match proves that the brutal foul will hopefully not have serious consequences.
However, Holgate can have a conscience not only for the dangerous tackle but also for letting his teammates finish the game with ten men. Brighton used the advantage of one extra player and after the 0:5 win they hold seventh place in the table with nine points behind fifth-placed Tottenham. Sheffield are at the tail of the table, seven points off the relegation places.
