Captain of the Washington Capitals, a legend, a Russian machine – this is how one could interpret the sporting or hockey life of this sniper.
But he recently traded in his skates for cleats when he hopped into Dynamo Moscow’s preliminary game against Perm.
Ovechkin even started in the starting lineup and opened the scoring in the eleventh minute thanks to this cool finish.
However, in order to play this game, he had to sign a sort of formal one-day contract with Dynamo Moscow.
“A dream has come true. Of course I dreamed of scoring a goal. I had one more chance, but I tried to find Smolov with a pass,” Ovechkin said after the game, as quoted by Sport.cz.
Ovechkin, however, solved the offensive situation as best he could. After receiving a spectacular stick in the opponent’s hexagon he did not hesitate and uncompromisingly sent the ball into the bottom right corner of the net. In short – Ovechkin scored like a skilled footballer.
The Capitals star donned the number 3 jersey for this game and helped Dynamo to victory. The third team of the last edition of the Russian Premier League won 5:0. Ovechkin made a substitution after scoring the goal.
