Rublev in the semifinals
It is already widely known that he is not always in control of his emotions. And in Dubai, Andrey Rublev showed it to the full.
In his semi-final match against Alexander Bublik, the tournament number two started very well. The Russian turned the tide in the first set and won it for himself in the tiebreak.
Also in the second set, the big favourite of the match to reach the final came back from a break down to take the set to a shortened game. However, Bublik was the winner.
The deciding set
The third set went in Rublev’s favour. He won an early serve from his Kazakh opponent but did not finish the match.
Bublik tied the match at 4:4 and the fateful moment of the match was approaching. In the eleventh game, the moment that decided the first finalist of the Dubai tournament came.
Bublik played the ball close to the baseline and his opponent was convinced it was an out. However, the linesman didn’t understand. You can watch the Russian tennis player’s subsequent reaction here.
Disqualification of Rublev
The match was then called off in favour of Bublik. According to fan speculation, Rublev used inappropriate language in Russian to address the umpire. In any case, it was once again shown in full nakedness that the biggest weakness of the number five player in the ATP rankings is his head.
