Kylian Mbappé decided not to spare six-league rivals Pays de Cassel, who PSG faced in the 1/16 final of the Coupe de France. The Parisian star scored 5 goals.
The match between PSG and Pays de Cassel had an interesting story. A certain Alexis Zmijak, who is a member of the PSG Ultras and a regular in the boiler, played for the team from the sixth division.
zmijak, a 34-year-old stopper, had the chance to try how hard it is to stop the players he watches in the stands on weekends. He just had a big dilemma about how to approach the confrontation.
“If Mbappé goes alone on goal, do I take him out or not? I say in my head: ‘Wait, we’re about to play Bayern in the Champions League,’ ” Zmijak told Le Parisien of his dilemma.
In the end, he didn’t have to deal with it because Mbappé was so fast that the Pays de Cassel defenders didn’t even have time to notice him. PSG coach Christopher Galtier took the game against the six-league rival very seriously and fielded a full-strength lineup, except for Lionel Messi.
It took PSG a while to get going, but then it was a rollercoaster for the amateurs from Pays de Cassel. In the 29th minute Mbappé scored for the first time, and four minutes later Neymar scored too. In the 35th and 40th minutes Mbappé completed his hat-trick.
The French superstar scored again in the 56th minute. Four minutes later, Carlos Soler added a sixth goal, which then set up Mbappé’s fifth. In the end, PSG won 7:0 thanks to Mbappé’s five goals.
PSG then have four games in Ligue 1 before they face Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals on 14 February.
