Chelsea drew 2-2 with Tottenham in the London derby, although they were still ahead in the fifth minute. Two extra points were taken by Harry Kane, who netted after a corner kick.

The home side were slightly more active from the start, but their first chance came in the 19th minute when Kai Havertz’s shot was saved by Hugo Lloris. From the ensuing standard situation they were already celebrating, with a superb volley giving Lloris no chance through Kalidou Koulibaly.

On the other side, Ryan Sessegnon could have equalised quickly, but Edouard Mendy made the save. Chelsea continued to be slightly better, but they were not getting shots off. When Mason Mount did get one just before half time, it went high over.

So at half-time the score was 1-0, with Tottenham getting the only big chance. Heung Min Son raced into the second on set pieces, defender Reece James having to stop him at the cost of a yellow card.

After the change of sides, Son had already got in front of Mendy, but failed to beat him from an angle. On the other side in the 61st minute, first the defence blocked if Ruben Loftus Cheek, Raheem Sterling’s finish went just over.

A minute later, goalscorer Harry Kane made his first appearance of the game, but missed the far post by a whisker. In the 69th minute, the visitors were already celebrating. Denmark’s Pierre Emile Hojbjerg fired from just outside the box and the ball went into the net.

The home side were all the more unfortunate as the penalty was preceded by an unforced foul on Havertz. Surprisingly, VAR did not return to it. Frustration was evident on the German striker and that is why he missed a great chance.

Moments later, the stadium exploded with joy. Raheem Sterling found James with a precise pass, who had already had an easy job from the volley. Mount could have given the Blues some confidence, but he missed the Spurs net in a good position.

In the setup, Eric Dier had the equaliser first, but Mendy saved it, and from the following corner Kane made no mistake and shot Tottenham’s golden point for a 2-2 draw. This leaves both clubs on four points.
