VIDEO: Janis Adetokunbo moved up to 80th on the NBA’s all-time scorers list after the game against Memphis
The NBA’s third-leading scorer of the current season scored another 35 points on the Memphis Grizzlies’ floor and jumped two more positions in the NBA’s all-time scoring chart to 80th place with 17,942 points. He will most likely jump two more steps in the next game.
Janis Adetokunbo scored another 35 points on the Memphis Grizzlies’ floor and jumped two more positions in the NBA’s all-time scoring chart to 80th place with 17,942 points. He will most likely jump two more steps in the next game.
Adetokunbo rises in the NBA history charts
Although Milwaukee lost by a rather surprising 3 points at Memphis (110:113), once again the huge Greek Janis Adetokunbo excelled in the game. He scored another 35 points in the game and together with Collin Sexton was the top scorer of the game.
Adetokunbo continues to be one of the league’s top scorers this season with an average of over 30 points per game (30.8). In addition, he notched his 43rd double-double of the season in his 54th game this season. This is a double-digit number in two different stats in a game.
Janis is already a Bucks legend
During the game against Memphis, he skipped right over two members of the NBA Basketball Hall of Fame. First he got ahead of Chris Mullin (17,911 points) and then he leapfrogged Lou Hudson (17,940 points). In the very next game, he may surpass two more players and jump to 78th all-time leading scorer in the regular season.
Adetokunbo has already recorded 42 triple-doubles in his career, which also ranks him among the best players in NBA history. He was voted the NBA’s Most Valuable Player of the Season in 2019 and 2020. After that, he was replaced by Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid. However, he has been in the final three every year.
He has already broken the 2,000 points per season mark twice in his career. He may do it for the third time in the current one. Adetokunbo has been with the Milwaukee Bucks his entire career. He’s rewriting club records in his favor. Even those once held by the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Either way, Adetokunbo in a Bucks jersey is already a club legend. In the 2020-21 season, it was Jabbar who led the team to a historic title as he did in the 1970s. And the fact that Milwaukee is going through its 2nd crisis this season means absolutely nothing in the playoffs.
Milwaukee, despite 7 losses in the last 10 games, has no problem advancing to the playoffs, where regular season results are erased. Moreover, there is never a shortage of surprises in the knockout stage. It’s only in the championship fight that teams switch to a mode where everything is on the line in every game.
