Bayern went into the match with their strongest line-up, despite the fact that Tuesday’s Champions League match against Lazio Roma cost them a lot of strength. Neither Harry Kane nor Jamal Musiala were missing, only youngster Aleksandar Pavlovic was absent due to a yellow card penalty.
He entered the match as if he was a bit tired from the game against Lazio. But then Jamal Musiala was well positioned in the whitewash, his back to goal was not confused and Harry Kane just cleared the ball into the empty net.
Excellent Harry Kane
It was the 28th league goal for Kane and he could have added another in the 15th minute, but he only headed into the middle of the net. Through all competitions, he boasts a record of 33 goals and nine assists.
No one in the top 5 leagues has more points. Ironically, one of his main rivals is his national team rival.
Ollie Watkins will probably only be a substitute because of Kane at the Euros, even though he has a 21+10 record this year. A very pleasant worry for Gareth Southgate anyway.
Bayern were helped to progress in the CHL
Bayern went into the game buoyed by their progression in the Champions League. Although he had to make up ground against Lazio Rome after a 0:1 away defeat, a 3:0 win secured a relatively quiet trip into the top eight teams in the competition.
Kane struck twice. Mainz, on the other hand, are moving further away from a safe haven with each round. They finished the last two rounds with a red card and were already nine points behind the relegation places before the start of the round.
And it hasn’t won away from home since the start of the season.
Bayern eventually won 8-1 and Kane scored a hat-trick.
