It’s over! Sparta is finished in the European Cup, they fell to Viking 1::2 in Norway. The reason for the defeat is the poor performance and the psychological state of the Prague players, which was crowned by a senseless mistake of David Hancock.

The league has not started yet and Sparta has already finished its journey through Europe. The second half was absolutely disgraceful and Viking was the better team.

As the game was heading into extra time, Dávid Hancko, Sparta’s captain and mainstay, made a miss that reminded fans of several earlier pre-season games.

Holec sent the ball to him under pressure, Hancko tried to return it to him, but with a very inaccurate pass he only found his opponent and although Holec almost punched the ball out, the ball was received by substitute Mai Traoré, who had no problem getting the ball into the net.

The shame was complete, in the next minute there was no more opportunity to threaten the Icelandic goalkeeper and the Spartans fell to the ground in tears.

They let their fans down again, because they will be the ones who will suffer the most from this defeat. In the months to come, they will listen to jeers from all sides.

And they may not get rid of them in the next season. The club’s coefficient is in tatters and the road to the European Cup will be much more thorny.
