Important three points! Hoffenheim were facing newcomer Heidenheim in the second round of the Bundesliga and things didn’t look good for them for a long time. However, they showed a great turnaround, helped by a good performance and a goal from Pavel Kadeřábek.
Since 2015, Pavel Kadeřábek has been one of Hoffenheim’s regulars. Only in the last three seasons has he had injury problems that have caused him to struggle for a place in the starting eleven at times.
But when he’s healthy and fit, he’s assured of a place. And so it is at the start of this season, even if Hoffenheim’s start hasn’t been entirely successful. After the cup win, the Sinsheim side failed to cope with the match against Freiburg and fell in the first round.
The start of the second round was not ideal either. Hoffenheim lost by two goals at the ground of the newcomer from Heidenheim. It could have been worse, but Jan-Niklas Beste missed a penalty kick in the 16th minute.
However, Hoffenheim turned the game around in the 77th minute. The 20-year-old striker Maximilian Beier reduced the gap to one goal, and in the 81st minute Kadeřábek found the ball in front of the open goal and equalised at 2-2.
In injury time, Hoffenheim then got a penalty kick opportunity, which was converted by Andrej Kramaric. The goal was a complete turnaround and a very important 3:2 win.
As for the Czech defender, he was one of the best players on the pitch. At 31 years old, he has great quality even after his health problems and dominated the right side of the pitch.
Kadeřábek scored for the first time since October 2022. Overall, he has 14 goals and 29 assists in 228 competitive games for Hoffenheim.
