VIDEO: Hellish elbow on the chin and it was over! Mexican scored an exhibition knockout, UFC prospect scores 13 of his 14 wins in the first round
What was expected from this match was delivered. Both Manuel Torres and Nikolas Motta are renowned for not staying in the cage too long. That was evident in their mutual measurements of strength in the UFC. We got a great first round knockout.
What was expected from this match was delivered. Both Manuel Torres and Nikolas Motta are renowned for not staying in the cage too long. That was evident in their mutual measurements of strength in the UFC. We got a great first round knockout.
They both earned their UFC contracts thanks to Dana White’s Contender Series. Their duel was the one at the weekend’s gala in which MMA sites predicted the greatest likelihood of an early finish. And the predictions weren’t wrong.
Manuel Torres has fought for more than five minutes only once in his career. It happened back in 2018, when he won on points. However, up until his last fight, he held a 13-2 record, winning six times by KO/TKO, six times by submission, and losing twice by submission.
While Nikolas Motta doesn’t boast a similar record of finishes in the early rounds, his fights don’t often end on points either.
In previous duels it happened only four times, always raising his hands above his head. 13-4 record, nine wins by KO/TKO, solid record.
So their duel promised to be an attractive and not too long spectacle, which we got. The fight didn’t even last two minutes. At 1:50 it was over.
Torres was better, more accurate, more active. He landed 13 shots, all of them significant. Motta hit his rival seven times before he was sent to dreamland.
The Mexican fighter landed a hard elbow right on the Brazilian’s chin, and there was no need to add any more punches. Motta went down and Torres called for a performance bonus or knockout of the night.
It was Torres’ 13th first round win. A fantastic record out of fourteen fights won. He’s currently 2-0 in the UFC. Motta, for a change, notched his second loss in the UFC in his third fight.
