VIDEO: He’s not gonna put that behind him! André Onana gives Bayern a simple goal against Manchester United
The highlight of Wednesday night’s Champions League was undoubtedly Bayern’s clash with Manchester United. Fans were looking forward to a good-looking match, but the first goal showed that even a world-class footballer can make a mistake that would put an amateur to shame.
The highlight of Wednesday night’s Champions League was undoubtedly Bayern’s clash with Manchester United. Fans were looking forward to a good-looking match, but the first goal showed that even a world-class footballer can make a mistake that would put an amateur to shame.
Manchester United travelled to Munich to take on Bayern Munich on Wednesday night. The home team were the favourites, but the visitors could surprise in the showpiece game.
The opening half an hour was quite even, even the Red Devils were often angry, but then the summer reinforcements in goal came into play, which did not exactly please the fans.
André Onana made a mistake in the 28th minute when he let in a shot from distance by Leroy Sané. It was not well placed, but the Cameroonian footballer did not hold the ball.
He then realised the goal was coming for him and could still listen to Bayern’s not very popular goalsong for the opponents, whose fans were ecstatic.
But that was not the end of the bad news for Onana. Four minutes later he was fishing the ball out of the net again, this time after a Serge Gnabry shot.
In this case, however, his conscience was clear and there was nothing he could do about his projectile. Bayern thus led 2: 0 and went on to a comfortable victory. Can they increase the score or will United still threaten?
