Erling Haaland continues to crush the Premier League. He has scored 11 goals in seven games and is destroying one opponent after another. Will he finally break the Premier League goalscoring record?
Erling Haaland continues to crush the Premier League. He has scored 11 goals in seven games and is destroying one opponent after another. Will he finally break the Premier League goalscoring record?
Two goals against West Ham, then an assist against Bournemouth, a goal against Newcastle, a Crystal Palace hat-trick, a Nottingham hat-trick, a goal for Aston Villa, two goals for Sevilla in the Champions League and a goal for Dortmund in the same competition. That’s Haaland’s record so far since the start of the season.
But the Norwegian striker has no plans to stop there. Against Wolverhampton he asserted himself again, this time with his weaker right foot.
About halfway through the attacking half, he took the ball from Bernardo Silva, dragged it towards the whitewash and cleared the ball to the bar with his right foot.
And he continues to set records. In the fastest time he has scored 10 goals in the Premier League, he has now become the first player to score in his first four away games in the English league.
And so the obvious question arises. Will Haaland break the Premier League goalscoring record? That is held by two players, Andy Cole netted 34 goals in the 1993/94 season, the same feat was recorded by Alan Shearer a year later.
However, that was in a 42-match competition, in the current 38-match format, Mohamed Salah holds the record with 32 goals. The Norwegian hitman already has a third after seven rounds and is on course to break the record in his first season.
