Manchester City managed to finish the 17th round of the Premier League, winning 3-1 at Leeds United. Citizens were struggling to score until the first half, then two goals by Erling Haaland and one by Rodri.
Erling Haaland scored the first goal in the 40th second, but his lob was cleared by Ilian Meslier. The home side slept through the opening minutes, with Kevin de Bruyne shooting just wide of the right post in the sixth minute.
After that, the pressure eased a little, with Ilkay Gundogan trying his luck from distance in the 20th minute but missing the target. Ten minutes later, Haaland burned a second scoring chance, again outpaced by Meslier’s excellent save.
In the setup, Jack Grealish seemed to close the half of terrible productivity, but the guests managed to finish one more action, which was finished by Rodri.
After the change of sides, the home side started actively but were brought down by inattentive defending, after which Haaland cleared into an empty net.
After that, the Citizens were calm and finished the game expertly. In the 64th minute, Haaland struck for the second time, assisted by Grealish.
In the 74th minute Pascal Struijk reduced the score to 1:3 from the home team’s first big chance.
Haaland then wasted another great opportunity, while Joe Gelhardt refused to dramatize the game on the other side.
The final pressure was relieved and the visitors returned to second place in the table with a 3:1 win. Leeds are 15th.
