VIDEO: Haaland again! Fantastic goal to help beat “his” Dortmund

The Champions League continued with the second day of matches in the second round of preliminary groups. In Group G, one of the main candidates for the trophy, Manchester City, took on Borussia Dortmund from Germany. The match was a long wait for the opening goal, which was eventually scored by Borussia. But Manchester City turned the game around and won 2-1.

The home team started the match better, spending most of the time in the offensive half in the opening minutes. After a quarter of an hour of play, Manchester’s pressure culminated in a dangerous centre from Mahriz, which was cleared by Niklas Süle in front of Haaland. Shortly afterwards, Salih Özcan fired from outside the box, but the Turkish midfielder on loan from Dortmund found only the English club’s ready goalkeeper.

Even after 20 minutes, there was still a wait for the opening goal. Although the home side had better possession, they were still waiting for the first shot between the three posts. BVB’s tenacious defence held not only Erling Haaland at bay, but also the other creative players of the Islanders.

The game was back to the same script, with the Citizens attacking but waiting in vain for a finish on goal. The pressure from Guardiola’s charges increased, but the German team’s solid defence held out. And time was fast running out.

But in the 80th minute, an incredible effort from John Stones. The English stopper fired from outside the box and headed just under the crossbar. And the Manchester carousel began. And it culminated in an incredible strike from Erling Haaland. After a centre from Joao Cancelo, he finished with a leaping shot and put Meyer through with his left.

In the end, the Bundesliga team did not put any more pressure and did not have the chance to equalise. 40 seconds before the end, Donyell Malen stretched from the left wing to shoot, but missed Ederson’s goal. The game ended with three points for Manchester City and a hold on the lead in Group G.
