West Ham started the new Premier League season well, but as expected, they lost to stronger opponents in the last two rounds. Now, however, they wanted to return to form, and the Czech duo of Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal wanted to help.

Even before the start of the new season, Hammers fans were calling for the sacking of coach David Moyes. West Ham had messed up their preparations for the new season. The opening draw with Bournemouth didn’t reassure them much.

But then the London side started to do well. They beat Chelsea, Brighton and Luton Town. But then came the expected defeat to Manchester City and the Hammers couldn’t even keep up with Liverpool.

However, they did well in the cup competitions. But West Ham wanted to return to form in the league as well and on Saturday they welcomed Sheffield United, one of the worst teams of the Premier League season so far.

The Czech duo of Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal were not missing from the line-up and both players managed to put their names on the stat sheet in the first half. And that’s duly positive.

In the 24th minute, Coufal managed to find Jarrod Bowen in the opposition’s sixteen with a great assist to open the scoring and send West Ham into a 1-0 lead. The central defender notched his third assist of the season.

Soucek did even better. After a mistake in Sheffield’s midfield, he received the ball from Michail Antonio and quickly found his way into the Blades penalty area to finish.

In the 37th minute, he sent West Ham into a two-goal lead and brought peace to his team. The Czech midfielder scored his third goal for his club this season. He has already scored in the nets of Serbian TSC or Lincoln, who play in the third English league.
