Goal of the Year in February. The best goal of the season was scored by Manchester City’s Caroline Weir in the Manchester derby in February. However, her goal was compounded by the fact that Weir eventually decided the derby with her spectacular goal.
The most beautiful Women’s Premier League goal of 2022 was Caroline Weir’s strike from the February Manchester derby.
As far as the Manchester City player is concerned, it wasn’t the first time she had performed this fantastic moment. She had disgraced Manchester United once before with a similar goal, almost exactly a year earlier, and her strike was nominated for the 2021 FIFA Puskás Award.
It’s fair to say the Red Devils are apparently her favourite opponent. In fact, she scored their next goal in the derby, which was played on 29 November 2021.
And to make matters worse, the United destroyer also made her mark on September 7, 2019. That’s when she decided the match with a precise strike from 25 yards. And this goal was also nominated for the aforementioned Puskás Trophy.
However, her goal from the derby attached below, and therefore from the February 2022 fixture, was not only spectacular, but also very important.
Not only did Weir’s goal decide the derby and give City a 1-0 win, but Manchester City also won the last Champions League spot at the expense of their city rival.
Weir joined Manchester City on 1 May 2018, having spent four years of her career at the club. She scored 22 goals in 66 games in his colours.
7. on July 2022, she then left City and transferred to Real Madrid as a free agent. And roughly a month later, she scored the goal that knocked her previous club out of the Champions League and propelled the Spanish giant to the next stage of the competition.
