A showdown between age-old rivals Arsenal and Manchester United framed the weekend’s Premier League schedule. The duel corresponded to the position of both teams in the table.
Manchester United had the better start to the match. In the 17th minute, they took the ball from Bruno Fernandes, crossed gracefully over Partey and shot from outside the box, aiming right at the bar.
He netted his ninth goal in the Premier League this season, scoring five of them in the last six games.
Arsenal, however, were not to be shamed and quickly levelled the scores. In the 24th minute, Eddie Nketiah pounced on Xhaka’s centre and headed home to level the game at 1-1.
Nketiah was given the difficult task of replacing the injured Gabriel Jesus after the World Cup. He scored for the third time in the Premier League after the break and added two goals in the FA Cup.
And in the second half, the football show continued. In the 53rd minute, Bukayo Saka got the ball on the right wing and showed why he is considered the future of English football.
First, he took a hint to evade Eriksen and sent a cannonball precisely to the right post of De Gea’s goal. It sent Arsenal into an important lead.
But Manchester United weren’t about to give up. A corner kick was initially cleared by Ramsdale, but Martinez laid in his header and the ball ended up in the net – 2: 2.
