You probably wouldn’t have found a favourite in the Milan derby before the game. Although Inter Milan could have had a slight advantage, AC Milan knocked out the unpleasant Naples, who went for the Scudetto early.
The match, which is also specific because both teams play in the same stadium, started better for the “paper” guests from Inter.
Already in the 8th minute Hakan Calhanoglu curled a corner kick into the area, Edin Džeko dispossessed a defender on the small corner and scored the first goal of the match with his left foot.
But that wasn’t all, the second disaster was only coming at the Black and Whites’ goal three minutes later.
In the 11th minute, Henrik Mkhitaryan headed a Dimarco pass into the box and beat a helpless Maignan.
The game could have been virtually over in the 16th minute. Hakan Calhanoglu shot from outside the box and hit only the left post of Maignan’s goal. Mkhitaryan’s follow-up shot hit only the Fracnouz goalkeeper.
That Wednesday night will not be a pleasant one for AC Milan so far was confirmed in the 18th minute when the injured Ismael Bennacer had to leave the game.
