Almost everything went into this game. Novak Djokovic played an exciting match against the Argentine Cerundolo. What did he do to entertain the crowd?

Djokovic in the eighth round

This tournament is going beyond most people’s expectations. Novak Djokovic came into it with questionable form. But he allayed those fears and showed a variety of tennis and non-tennis situations in his eighth-final match against Argentina’s Cerundolo.

After a sharp start and a 6:1 win in the first set, Djokovic ran out of breath. He was not in the best of health and even had his knee treated.

Although his condition seemed to be improving, tennis-wise he was pulling on the short side of the rope. He lost the next two sets, and it was expected whether he would find the strength to turn things around.

Moreover, the Serb repeatedly made his negative emotions known. He spoke out against the noise from the stands caused by the child and repeatedly commented ironically on the state of the court. Not that such actions are something completely unprecedented, but in those moments you probably wouldn’t bet your entire paycheck on it.

As usual, though, Djoker found the strength to turn the tide. In the fourth set, he was able to dig himself out of a break down and was back in the game. An important break point at 4:4 got not only him but also the crowd pumped up. The fourth set became his prey.

The deciding set

In the fifth set, Djokovic was the better tennis player. He lost a 2:0 lead, but worked out a new one and that decided the match.

The legendary Serbian tennis player made another spectacular turnaround and advanced to the quarterfinals of Roland Garros. This win brought him something extra. It was his win at major number 370. No one in the history of tennis has ever won more.

After one of his valuable exchanges, Djokovic got a bonus. Don’t give up, get excited and have fun. Those words perhaps best describe this man’s performance.

Djokovic is certainly not in 100% condition. In the quarterfinals, he’ll challenge Nora Ruud in a rematch of last year’s final. Can he win it again this year?
