Feyenoord Rotterdam had lost 2-4 to Lazio in the Europa League Conference opener in Rome, Italy, so it was certain that they would need to make up some points in their next match.
The Dutch side hosted Sturm Graz from Austria, who won their opening game after a 1:0 win over Midtjylland from Denmark.
The home team was the favourite and they started to confirm it from the first minute. Iranian international striker Alireza Jahanbakhsh scored in the ninth minute.
After that, the Slovakian international, who came from Sparta Prague, also showed up. Dávid Hancko received the ball from Oussama Idrissi and with a ground shot he pushed the ball between the goalkeeper’s legs.
But that wasn’t all the team, who are second in the Dutch top flight behind top-placed Ajax, showed in the first half. Danilo scored three minutes after Hanck.
And to make matters worse, Jahanbakhsh increased the score to 4-0 in the 41st minute. At the end of the first half, it was clear to everyone in the stadium that the home team would be the winner.
In the second half it was confirmed, Santiago Tomas Gimenez and Idrissi scored and the score was 6:0.
