Makhmud Muradov took part in his seventh fight under the UFC banner on Saturday night. His opponent was the undefeated Dagestani fighter Aliaskhab Khizriev, who believed he could handle the Uzbek with the Czech heart. However, neither is happy about the win.
Makhmud Muradov has been a UFC fighter since 2019. In that time, however, he has managed far fewer fights than he would have liked. More have been cancelled than he has actually completed.
Moreover, Makh has had an uncomfortable time. In addition to being plagued by frequent health problems himself, he found himself in a situation where he had two losses in a row. Last July, however, he got back on a winning streak when he defeated the dangerous Bryan Barberena.
However, his record of cancelled and unfought fights in the UFC evened out on Saturday night into Sunday. The Uzbek with the Czech heart fought the undefeated Dagestani fighter Aliaskhab Khizriev.
Before the duel, there were quite confident statements from both sides, with the Dagestani being much bolder. Muradov was confident of winning, stating that he had tougher opponents than Khizriev. The Russian, for his part, said of Makhach that he was an average fighter.
So there was no shortage of emotions before the fight. All we had to do was wait for the fight itself to find out who was right. But unfortunately, we got a big disappointment.
Makhmud Muradov ended up angry and in tears
Makhmud Muradov definitely envisioned his seventh fight in the UFC somewhat differently. Aliaskhab Khizriev ended the fight after only 11 seconds. But not victoriously for him. He won’t be satisfied either. He wanted to win his second fight in the organization, it didn’t happen.
The Dagestani hit Uzbek in the eye with a finger during one of his attacks. Extremely unpleasant. So much so that the former Oktagon or XFN fighter couldn’t continue the fight. So the match has no winner.
Both were disappointed. Muradov tried to get back into the match, but unfortunately. In anger and frustration, he threw his mouthguard away, then sat on the floor of the Octagon, unable to fight back tears. This was simply not the ending he wanted.
Makhmud is now 4-2 in the UFC. The duel with Khizriev was the last of his contract with the organization. He is expected to sign a new one, however, and negotiations are still ongoing. The Uzbek also managed to speak for the first time after the fight.
