After the first match, Austria Vienna went into the return leg with a one-goal lead, having won 2-1 against Legia last week.

Everybody was probably expecting a more cautious match on Thursday, when both teams will want to avoid unnecessary mistakes. But it can be said that the exact opposite was true.

Eight goals were scored in the match, with the final score 3:5 in Legia’s favour. The Polish big club led 2:0 after the first half, when Juergen Elitim scored first in the 39th minute, and Marc Gual added the second goal in the first minute of stoppage time.

In the 59th minute, Legia were 3-0 up. However, we need to pause for a moment on this goal. The visitors played a wonderful piece of football at the end of which the Czech goalkeeper Pekhart stood out.

He has already scored seven times in the current competition year and with this goal he helped his team to advance to the next stage of the Conference League. You can watch the whole action in the video below.

Infarct ending of the match, the advancing goal was scored in the 100th minute

Ten minutes later, Andreas Gruber reduced the gap to two goals. The Austrian striker then scored once more in the 83rd minute to make it 2:3. Three more goals were scored at the end of the second half, and the fans in the Generali Arena experienced a truly heart-stopping ending.

Maciej Rosolek increased the Legion’s lead to 4:2 in the 87th minute, and in the 97th minute Reinhold Ranftl scored for Austria and it was only a goal again!
