The Chicago Blackhawks lost two players to New Jersey (2:4). The number one pick Connor Bedard had to withdraw after a hard hit, then his teammate Nick Foligno tried to avenge him, but he broke his finger during the fight.
Chicago lost two important players
New Jersey defeated Chicago 4: 2. The fight between Jack Hughes and Connor Bedard ended amicably. Neither of the talented hockey players scored in the game. But the American was happier after the game.
His team won and stayed in the top eight of the Eastern Conference. Chicago, on the other hand, confirmed their poor form and suffered their fifth straight defeat. Because of their poor performance, they are second to last in the NHL.
Moreover, the Blackhawks suffered a double loss against the Devils when Bedard retired after a hard hit. Subsequently, his teammate Nick Foligno tried to avenge him, but he broke a finger on his left hand during a fight with Brendan Smith.
Bedard took a hard hit and broke his jaw
Smith showed the young Bedard that the NHL can be very tough. The No. 1 overall draft pick drove the puck into the offensive zone, but was hit hard. You can see the whole situation below.
“I think it was a good hit,” Devils coach Lindy Ruff said after the game. “But it’s unfortunate where he got it. You don’t want to see that. I think all the younger players have to learn to say: ‘I learned my lesson. You have to be careful.”
Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson hasn’t said how serious the youngster’s injury was. It is a broken jaw, but it is not known how long Bedard will be out for. He is expected to miss a few games, however, and then will probably start with a protective gear.
However, the injury came at an inopportune time. Bedard recently learned that he had been selected as one of the NHL’s top players to play in the All-Star Game.
Bedard has played in 39 games so far this year, scoring 33 points. He has scored 15 goals to go along with 18 assists. The No. 1 overall pick leads Chicago in points thanks to these performances.
