VIDEO: Beautiful shot by Rafael Leão! Will he be the Mbappé replacement at PSG?

Rafael Leão once again showed his world-class qualities in AC Milan’s match against Atalanta on Sunday. The star Portuguese sent his team into the lead in the third minute when he tackled two defenders on the left wing and then swept the crossbar superbly.

In terms of individual statistics, however, he is still slightly behind compared to previous years. In the 2021/22 season he scored 11 goals and 10 assists in 34 league games. A year later, he scored 15 times in 35 games and added eight assists.

He has now made twenty-three league starts, in which he has opened the net four times and assisted seven times on his teammates’ goals.

He last scored in Serie A last September. Since then he has scored five goals in the Champions League, Coppa Italia and Europa League. Against Atalanta, he finally ended his goal fast, and in a truly phenomenal way.

Star Leão on PSG’s radar

Leão contributed with two goals to AC Milan’s victory and progression from the 1/16 final of the Europa League, scoring another superb goal against Stade Rennes.

Unsurprisingly, the 24-year-old winger is on PSG’s radar as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappé. Although his current market value is €90 million according to the renowned website Transfermarkt, the French outfit must prepare much more if they seek a transfer.

The problem for the Parisians, however, is that the Almada native signed a contract extension at the San Siro last summer. Leão is therefore contractually tied to AC Milan until 2028. The contract also includes an exit clause set at a rather astronomical amount. That is, 175 million euros.

However, AC Milan did not win the match of the 26th round of Serie A at their stadium, but only drew 1-1. In the 42nd minute, referee Orsato awarded a harsh penalty to Bergamo, which was converted by Teun Koopmeiners.
