The Canadian-American NHL offered only two games from Wednesday to Thursday night, with the one between the Lightning and Bruins being the more interesting from the Czech fan’s point of view. Boston were not enough for their opponent this time, the Bolts won 3:1 thanks to one beautiful hockey action.
The game between Tampa Bay and Boston was also in this spirit. The Bruins are not currently enjoying the best of winning streaks, having lost three of their last five games, including this one against the Lightning.
They had a very tough task ahead of them at Amalie Arena, with Tampa Bay having a little more of the game from the start, at least from a statistical standpoint.
And they also scored first. The action started with defenseman Darren Raddysh. He slid the puck to Michael Eyssimont, who passed it to Nick Paul. It should be noted that he played his 400th NHL game against Boston.
The 29-year-old Canadian forward then passed the puck to Mitchell Chaffee, who opened the scoring. You can watch the entire Bolts offensive action in the attached video below. Chaffee scored just his fourth goal of the season.
Boston tied it up, but then Tampa shot
Some beautiful hockey action. But the Bruins didn’t go unanswered. At 17:11 they tied the game when Danton Heinen scored after an assist from Pavel Zacha – 1:1. David Pastrnak did not add a point in this game.
In the last two periods, Tampa came out and left nothing to chance. In the middle part of the game, Brayden Point scored his 42nd goal of the season, and after six minutes of the third period, the referees disallowed a goal by Steven Stamkos.
Nikita Kucherov, who also has 42 goals in this year’s edition of the famous Canadian-American competition, added the insurance goal half a minute before the final siren.
Boston remains in second place in the Eastern Conference with 99 points after its third loss in the last five games. Tampa Bay is now sixth with 87 points. Both teams should be able to make the playoffs as the regular season comes to a close.
