The Bundesliga continues after the national break with the eighth round, which opened with Bayern and Leverkusen on Friday. Both teams are not doing as well as they thought they would. The ruler of the last ten seasons of Germany’s top football competition entered the match from fifth place, not a position the Bavarian giants are used to. Leverkusen were just above the relegation zone. How did the match look?

The starting line-up of coach Seoane’s team included Patrik Schick, who played at the top of the attack, while Adam Hložek was on the bench from the start. Bayern coach Nagelsmann sent in the strong offensive duo of Mané, Sané.

The first goal was scored in the third minute in a packed Allianz Arena. Musiala sent a pass into the penalty area from the right side to Leroy Sané, whose telegraphed shot ended up in the net.

In the 17th minute, the assist player became the scorer. Jamal Musiala received the ball from Müller and from an angle managed to beat Lukáš Hrádecký, although the Finnish goalkeeper of Slovak origin got a touch on the fierce ground shot.

Leverkusen’s first serious threat on goal came after more than half an hour of play, when Diaby’s attempt had to be cleared over the crossbar by Manuel Neuer. Moments later, Andrich tried his luck, but the ball went wide of the three posts.

And so, in the 39th minute, Bayern punished again, specifically Sadio Mané, who from the edge of the sixteen thanks to a run by the defending teammate, accurately hit the bottom right corner of the Bayer goal. The 19-year-old German midfielder Musiala scored another assist.

Munich continued to be the better team after the break. Mané had a great chance in the 55th minute, but his shot from the penalty spot was saved by Hrádecký. Just a few tens of seconds later, the Senegalese footballer scored. However, VAR subsequently called off the fourth change of the score because the goal was preceded by a foul by the home team.

After an hour Schick left the field, but he did not threaten Neuer’s goal. The Czech international was replaced by Iranian Sardar Azmoun. At the same time, Adli replaced Hudson-Odoi.

In the 65th minute it was Amine Adli of France who could have eased the scoreline. But his shot was deflected by Bayern’s unshakable number one. Fifteen minutes before the end of normal time, Adam Hložek appeared on the pitch in place of Moussa Diaby.

84. the minute brought a big miss by goalkeeper Hradecky, who also messed up a cross due to a slip, so that Thomas Müller simply got to the ball. The experienced 2014 world champion then had no problem hitting the empty net.

Bayern Munich moved into second place in the Bundesliga table at least until Saturday with a 4-0 victory. Bayer 04 Leverkusen, on the other hand, followed up their 1:5 debacle at home against the Bavarian club almost a year ago and currently holds the barrier position.
