Barcelona is the winner of the Spanish Super Cup. In the final, they beat Real Madrid in the famous derby and the duo of Robert Lewandowski and Gavi contributed the most to the win. Xavi scored his first ever trophy as coach of the Blaugranas.
Barcelona were fully fit before the game. Real Madrid were missing David Alaba, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Lucas Vázquez.
From the start, Barcelona dominated the pitch. In the sixth minute, Araujo reached for the ball in vain. Lewandowski had the first big chance in the 13th minute, but Courtois made a good save.
Then Real also had a chance. Benzema was there, but his shot missed the right post. Barcelona were the first to score.
Cannon player Lewandowski also proved to be a good passer. With a precise pass, he found Gavi, who took the ball quickly and finished for Courtois – 0:1.
For Real, the situation was all the more critical in the final minute of the first half. Again, the excellent Gavi-Lewandowski cooperation worked, as the former received a through pass to the left and the 18-year-old talent then presented the ball to the Polish cannonballer into the empty net – 0::2.
The Catalan club went into the cabins with a 2:0 lead. In the first half, Real did almost nothing of note and continued the sometimes professorial performance they put on in the semi-final against Valencia.
And Barcelona continued their dominant performance in the second half. But Dembele’s great chance was saved by Courtois.
Barcelona fans waited until the 69th minute for another goal. And once again, the immense talent of Gavi was there. After his precise pass, another youngster in Barcelona’s line-up was able to rejoice. Pedri – 0::3.
Then Real got a little softer. But Rodrygo missed a great chance. Against the great Marc-André Ter Stegen.
The White Ballet managed to score a goal after all. In the last minute of stoppage time, Benzema was the best man after a rebound in the penalty area and scored at least a fair goal for his team – 1::3.
Nothing else happened in the match. The El Clásico derby in the final of the Spanish Super Cup was clearly dominated by Barcelona and for the fourteenth time they could enjoy this trophy.
