MLS is in full swing and Los Angeles FC is leading the way, looking to make amends for a failed last season when they didn’t even make the play-offs. To make the best of it, it has brought in some interesting names.
Over the summer, the Californian side acquired Giorgio Chiellini and Gareth Bale. Chiellini was expected to move overseas, after all, he will soon celebrate his 38th birthday and has become one of the legends of football history.
There was a lot of talk about Bale only going to the US for a short period of time to be in shape for the upcoming World Cup, and eventually ending his career. However, after the transfer, he said that he wants to get Wales to the Euro 2024 as well.
He is now already working to be in the best possible shape as soon as possible. On Sunday night he made his debut for his new team when he came on in the second half. His first touches already confirmed that he is a world-class player.
The fans enjoyed him. Every time the Wales star got to the ball, almost the entire stadium applauded. But he hasn’t shown too much yet. By his own admission, he is still not in good shape. Moreover, one thing surprised him.
On the day of the match, the temperature was around 30°C and the humidity was almost 90%. “It was a big challenge. Even during the warm-up, I was already experiencing difficulties. It’ s something I’m not really used to,” Bale admitted in a post-match interview.
However, he said that there was no danger of him having problems adapting to the style of play. On the contrary. He’s just trying to get up to speed as quickly as he can. When he started his first game on the bench, he was just looking forward to getting on the field.
