Liverpool have mastered the battle at the Etihad Stadium. They add a point to their tally for a 1-1 draw. Erling Haaland opened the scoring with his 50th goal in the Premier League and Trent Alexander Arnold equalised after the change of sides.

Manchester City started more actively, but Liverpool did not let their opponents into the end. It was only in the tenth minute that Alisson Becker misplayed, but Phil Foden did not take advantage of the offered gift and hit only the centre of the goal.

Then the visitors had a good passage of play, with Darwin Núñez in the lead. First, the South American hitman let Ederson Moraes’ header stand out, and on the second occasion the ball got tangled under his feet in the whitewash.

In the 27th minute, on the other hand, the home side celebrated as Erling Haaland was given too much space and tackled himself in front of Alisson.

Eight minutes later it could have been level, but Núñez hit the side netting from a turn inside the box. In the 44th minute, Foden finished on the other side after a quick Citizens action, but Alisson made a great save.

In the 61st minute, Joel Matip headed in after a corner kick, Ederson had an easy job this time. Ruben Dias added the Citizens’ second in the 68th minute, but he couldn’t pay due to a foul by Manuel Akanji.

The match was entertaining at both ends of the pitch, with Núñez again testing Ederson after a quick action. Alisson, on the other hand, then flashed in from a counter-attack before Trent Alexander Arnold silenced the home fans with a shot from distance.

Manchester went for the three points in the end, but the Reds closed the defence. In the last minute, Haaland narrowly missed the back post, so the Citizens remain at the top of the table after a 1-1 draw, but Arsenal can still leapfrog them tonight.
