Video: Another failure of Ferrari and their engines! Look at Carlos Sainz’s burning formula

Formula 1 had its eleventh race of the season on Sunday 10 July, which was dominated by Charles Leclerc. However, his teammate Carlos Sainz was unable to finish the Austrian Grand Prix and had to make an emergency escape from his burning Ferrari!
The Italian team from Maranello was on course for a very solid result. The pace of Leclerc and Sainz was so great that they were beating Max Verstappen by a full second per lap at certain points in the race.
Leclerc overtook Verstappen three times in the race after pit stops and Sainz would have had the same number of overtakes if his engine had held up.
Thus, on lap 58, the Spanish driver had to make an emergency abandonment of his car, which started to burn rapidly even after an obvious fuel leak. Fortunately, the whole matter was soon resolved by the track marshals when they managed to extinguish the burning Ferrari.
What does this mean for the Italian team, though? At the very least, more work on their car, and probably not much of it.
In fact, the fire also affected the power unit itself, so it’s possible that Sainz will be running a new engine next race. It should be added, the 27-year-old was initially unable to shift the gears to ensure his car stayed in place, according to the latest reports.
This is the fourth time this season that Ferrari has dropped out of a race due to engine failure. It also indicates the extent of the (un)reliability of the power units, or parts thereof. In fact, at a recent press conference, Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto himself noted that the team does not know exactly what is causing the frequent technical problems.
Nevertheless, Ferrari did achieve victory in the Austrian Grand Prix, thanks to a superb performance by Leclerc, who deserves the “Driver of the day” award.
However, it was Mick Schumacher in the Haas that earned him the award, and his sixth place earned him some very valuable points in the drivers’ championship. Second place belongs to Verstappen, and for the second time in a row Lewis Hamilton can celebrate the podium.
