Harry Maguire has long been the butt of jokes for football fans around the world. But unfortunately, the Manchester United stopper often does something that makes people shake their heads. He sent Sevilla into the lead with this pass.
Manchester United are essentially out of the Premier League title race, but still have a chance to prove their quality in the Europa League, where they are battling Sevilla for the semi-finals.
The opening game played in England ended 2-2, with Marcel Sabitzer scoring twice for the home side in the first half and United scoring goals of their own late in the game, namely Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire.
And it was the England international who played a major role in the start of the return leg, which was played in Seville, Spain. The situation happened in the eighth minute.
Maguire received a tricky ball from goalkeeper David de Gea, but instead of a vigorous kick somewhere among the spectators, he chose to play a constructive cross.
He shouldn’t have done that, as three players swarmed around him and one of them intercepted his pass to a teammate. Alone in front of the goalkeeper, Moroccan striker Youssef En Nesyri did not hesitate.
Sevilla led 1: 0 and pushed as hard as they could towards the rematch. United fans were left crying, although there was more than enough time for an equaliser at the time.
