Schalke 04 are not having the best of times. Last season, they were promoted back to the elite and now they’re back on the chopping block. In the last three games they have always drawn 0:0, but this time the win was far from a draw. However, Alex King was offside and his goal was disallowed.

Schalke 04 are not doing well. After twenty games, the team from Gelsenkirchen has only 12 points and is the best candidate for relegation.

Meanwhile, the previously successful team was promoted to the elite last season and it seemed that the darkest times were over. However, just two wins prove that work is at a premium at the club.

Alex King returned to the line-up after an injury, first starting for less than a quarter of an hour in the 0:0 goalless draw with Cologne and then in the goalless draw with Borussia Mönchengladbach.

On Friday, Schalke hosted Wolfsburg at home, who are fighting for the cup. The visitors failed to convert a penalty kick and the home team scored the first goal.

After a direct kick, the Czech national team midfielder found the ball and goalkeeper Koen Casteels had no time to react. The stands were jumping for joy, but then came the big disappointment.

King was in a close offside position and the head referee had to call the goal off after a long communication with the video referee.

The third game in a row ended goalless and Schalke gained another valuable point in the table. They are now two points behind second to last Hertha and four points behind Stuttgart.
