MMA fans last night watched one of the last UFC galas of the year. Twelve fights in total, including 9 stoppages before the limit. This was UFC Fight Night in Austin. But one finish did stand out.
The end of the MMA year is approaching and the world’s most famous organization, the UFC, has only two more tournaments to go, both of which are hosted by Las Vegas, USA. In just a week’s time, we’ll see the unranked Fight Night tournament, and then a week before Christmas, fans will get a good dose of MMA’s best at UFC 296 with title fights Edwards vs. Covington and Pantoja vs. Royval.
But our eyes will take us to the night’s tournament in Austin, which featured many crazy fights. In the main event of the gala, Arman Tsarukyan was able to surprise lightweight number four contender Beneil Dariush when he caught him with a hard knee to the chin that sent the American’s body crashing to the ground uncontrollably.
Also of note was the performance of Jalin Turner, who demolished Bobby Green with a crushing knockout, or the return of Deiveson Figuereid, who got back on a winning streak after losing a tetralogy to Brandon Moreno.
But it was the prelims card and the fight of American UFC veteran Drakkar Klose that sparked the biggest reaction on social media. The latter measured his strength against compatriot Joe Solecki, who has recorded a single loss in the world’s top MMA league.
However, he didn’t stay in the fight with Klose for too long. After 90 seconds of the fight, he tried to put an arm bar on his opponent, but the latter picked him up and slammed him to the ground with such force that the impact disabled him. No further blows were necessary, as the referee immediately stopped the match.
Of course, the video of the unconventional knockout went around the martial arts world and even Dana White was impressed. He gave Klose a $50,000 bonus for ending the night.
