Only 19 years old, Salzburg striker Benjamin Šeško was an important driving force for the Slovenian team. He scored a goal in both of his national team’s matches and was instrumental in keeping Slovenia in Group B of the UEFA Nations League.
The young striker only confirmed his current form. He has already scored four goals and assisted one in nine games for Salzburg this season.
It is not surprising that Red Bull Leipzig have tentatively agreed with Salzburg to buy the 195 centimetre tall striker for a sum of 20 million euros. The Slovenian talent is expected to move to Germany next year after the end of the current season.
The excitement among the fans was especially caused by his goal in the second match against Sweden, which was truly unique.
After a Stojanovic centre, Šeško managed to beat goalkeeper Olsen with a beautiful volley.
The goal reminded the 19-year-old talent of the legendary Marco van Basten’s goal in the 1988 European Championship final.
Back then, the Dutch striker had a very similar performance against the Soviet Union, who lost 0:2 to the Netherlands in the final.
So the question is – does the young striker have a career ahead of him as bright as the Dutch legend?
