Verstappen roared on to break a 71-year F1 record. He highlighted two important things, leaving emotions aside
Max Verstappen could hardly have had a more dominant season. In fact, the reigning champion won his third consecutive triumph this year, in addition to breaking a number of historic records. One of which he recently commented on himself.

The Verstappen-Red Bull combination could hardly work better. The Austrian team clearly has the best car in the entire grid, but that is not the only key to success.
Red Bull has, over the years, developed a driver who can achieve the impossible with his car, and indeed with the whole team. All the others, it could be said, have been burnt in Red Bull in recent years – Daniil Kvyat, Alexander Albon, Pierre Gasly, Sergio Pérez is also in big trouble.
And in the end it was Daniel Ricciardo who could not withstand the pressure, or rather be a teammate of the now 26-year-old Verstappen.
No wonder the Dutch driver has such a strong position at Red Bull and the team is practically standing on him. He is letting the numbers speak for themselves, or rather the results that the Austrian team lives off of.
Verstappen, for example, broke the record for the most wins in a single season this year (15), has already collected the most points in a single season in F1 history or has recorded the most wins in a row (10).
Verstappen also broke a 71 year old record!
But one record stands out among all of them. For the Red Bull driver achieved his 17th victory of the year in the Brazilian Grand Prix. Regardless of what happens in the last two races of 2023, Verstappen will finish this season with the highest winning percentage of the season. That will surpass Ascari’s 75% from 1952.
While Ascari won six races out of eight that year (a 75% success rate), Verstappen has now won 17 races out of twenty-two. This brings him to 77.27 per cent. This year, he can add two more triumphs and reach an incredible 86.36%.
“When I came to Formula 1, I didn’t think that one day I would have (such a success rate) of 75 per cent wins per season. That’s the kind of thing that comes when everything just works really well,” Verstappen told Racing News 365.
“I feel good in the car, the car is very competitive and the team hardly makes any mistakes. Then you can have a season like we’re having now. So for me it’s more about enjoying the moment and trying to make the most of every opportunity,” he concluded.
