Dutch driver Max Verstappen scored his 1,000th lap in the Dutch VC, in which he led. He reached this milestone as the 19th in history. He is still only 23 years old. This is also the first year he’s seriously challenging for the F1 world title.

So it’s no surprise that he’s spent a large proportion of his laps at the front this season. In the opening 13 races, Verstappen has been in first position for a total of 468 laps, putting him more than 300 laps ahead of second-placed Lewis Hamilton.

In total, the Red Bull driver has been in the lead for a total of 1,055 laps, putting even more distance between him and Felipe Massa, who has already ended his career. Valtteri Bottas is closest behind him among the active drivers, with 676 laps in the lead.

By the end of the season, Damon Hill’s 14th place in the historic circuit leaderboard seems a realistic target. Hill has 1,358 laps under his belt, giving Verstappen a limit of just under 34 laps in the lead per race by the end of the season. Certainly nothing unrealistic as this season unfolds.

Lewis Hamilton leads the entire stats, followed by Michael Schumacher. Both are over the 5,000 lap mark, with Hamilton at 5,227 and Schumacher finishing his career with 5,111 laps.

so the 23-year-old Verstappen certainly has a lot of work ahead of him. But the main goal for the Dutchman is to lead especially on the last lap of every race and win the F1 world title.
