PSG bites another big blow, another end already in the eighth stage of the League. There was a lot of criticism on one person in particular, Marco Verratti absolutely failed to handle the second game against Bayern Munich, making one mistake after another.

The current season will be evaluated in Paris very soon. For the season to be perceived as a success, more trophies than just the league trophy must be won in Paris. But this year, that will not be the case. PSG were knocked out of the cup by Olympique Marseille and now the Champions League is gone.

In the millionaire competition, PSG fell short to Bayern Munich and although the French side had their chances to score, the strength and quality were clearly on the side of the Bavarian giant. A glance not only at the starting line-ups, but especially at the bench of both teams was enough.

PSG may boast more famous names, it’s just that the overall composition of the squad simply doesn’t match that of a squad that can win the Champions League in such a huge competition. And that was confirmed against Bayern.

But what is most disappointing and painful? How much otherwise key players fail in key games. Last year, PSG’s failure to progress was mainly due to defensive lapses, with defender Marquinhos making mistake after mistake against Real Madrid.

Against Bayern, Marco Verratti, the key man in the midfield, had a tragicomic performance. The Italian, however, has been in a slight decline this season. His performances are behind expectations compared to those of previous seasons.

And in the duel with the Bavarian giant, this was confirmed. Verratti burned in duels, fell unnecessarily, attempted pointless slips in absurd positions and directly caused one Bayern goal.

PSG fans did not spare him after the loss. On the contrary. They even wanted him back at the club that brought him up. That is now third-tier Pescara, who are certainly not opposed to his return, as they confirm on social media.

Pescara is luring its youngster to the famous Italian skewers and also to the seaside. But at 30, Verratti undoubtedly still has slightly different ambitions.
