Venezuela vs. Colombia: Preview and betting tips
After two successful World Cups, the Colombian national team is in danger of not going to the 2022 World Cup. If Peru makes it through the last round of qualifying, Colombia will no longer have a chance of qualifying for the barrage. James Rodriguez and co. will face Venezuela.
After two successful World Cups, the Colombian national team is in danger of not going to the 2022 World Cup. If Peru makes it through the last round of qualifying, Colombia will no longer have a chance of qualifying for the barrage. James Rodriguez and co. will face Venezuela.
Venezuela has nothing to play for in the last round of qualifying. It has lost the last two rounds, with ten points it is at the bottom of the table and even if it wins it cannot get to at least ninth place.
Colombia, on the other hand, made it through the March match and kept its chances of qualifying for the barrage. Currently in sixth place, it is one point behind fifth-placed Peru, so it must hope to falter against Paraguay. However, this is not very likely, Colombia simply does not have it in their hands.
Venezuela is led by MLS star Josef Martínez, who managed to score and assist twice in the opening four rounds of the season for Atlanta. Midfielder Yangel Herrera, on the other hand, has been a regular in the jersey of Spanish side Espanyol Barcelona.
Luis Diaz is having the season of his life, spiced up by his transfer to Liverpool, the speedy winger has scored eighteen goals and assisted six times in all competitions. James Rodriguez has been on the scoresheet twelve times (5+7) during his time in Qatar.
Venezuela has been plagued by a leaky defensive line, scoring two or more goals in four of their last six games.
The visitors, on the other hand, are again struggling offensively, although the coach has plenty to choose from on the roster. Colombia has scored more than once in only two of its last nine games.
Given Colombia’s motivation and the experience of the mainstays in similarly important games, I think the visitors will win.
