The new Fight Night Challenge organization has had its first gala night, the program offered interesting fights, but the bitter aftertaste is left by problems with live streaming. What did the tournament look like and how did the fights turn out?
The first tournament of the new Fight Night Challenge organization promised very interesting fights. We finally got them. If there is something that deserves criticism, however, it is the problems with the live stream, which was choppy for many people or didn’t go at all.
Given the friendly relationship with the Oktagon MMA organization, which already has the streams fine-tuned to the last detail, it is incomprehensible to many fans why the tournament was not broadcast on the platform of the Czechoslovakia’s number one MMA promotion.
But now to the tournament itself. Even before it began, it was criticized, praised by others. Some didn’t like the composition of the fights, as it was said to be a slur on boxing. However, others saw it as a way to raise the profile of the sport.
The standard of the fights, however, was by no means disastrous. Of course, it was obvious in the celebrity fights that they were not professional fighters, but it was not a flop. When it came to the fights of the wrestlers, there was no shortage of quality spectacle.
In the first match on points Michal Plesnik won over Michal Ryba, confirming his role as the favourite. The second fight was dominated by Laky Royal, who defeated Moloch Vlavo on points. The fight was exhausting for both fighters, but they showed heart and gave it their all.
An attractive boxing match was presented by experienced stand-up fighters Denis Farkas and Jakub Gazdik. The more experienced Gazdík won on points. The fight between the two rappers followed and offered the only KO of the evening. It was made by Frayer Flexking, who shut out Chis T in the first round.
The heavyweight Alex Cverna’s fight with Pirate was expected. As expected, Samuel Kristofich was cautious, leaving a mark on Cverna’s face in the form of a laceration. He escaped without any on his own, but the strength advantage of the heavier opponent was evident. The fight ended in a well-deserved draw.
Rapper Rhythm showed great heart in the main preliminary bout of the evening. Although Gábor Boráros defeated him clearly on points, Patrik Vrbovsky endured many hard blows, he himself admitted that he was twice naked, but he managed to motivate himself and did not give up.
The highlight of the evening was Attila Végh, who defeated Patrik Kinc on points. The Czech fighter’s performance showed that he really took the fight at the last minute, but he certainly didn’t disgrace himself. The fight was definitely not a one-sided event.
