Slavia Prague managed to win their first spring match and beat Jablonec 5:1. The fans were worried about the result at half-time, but after the arrival of returnee Mick van Buren, things started to happen. What did coach Jindřich Trpišovský say after the game?

Slavia deservedly took three points in the first league game of the spring season after a 5-1 win over Jablonec and moved to the top of the table. At half-time, there was no joy in the stands.

Already in the 12th minute Václav Jurečka gave Slavia the lead, but at the end of the opening half Vladimir Jovovic equalized with a beautiful shot. Slavia did not lay down their arms and struck after an hour of play.

Shortly after the arrival of Mick van Buren, we saw the second goal of the Susians and it was the returnee from the away game who scored. Two minutes later he served an assist to Ondrej Lingra.

These two goals gave Slavia confidence and we could see two more, when Matěj Jurásek, who is so loudly asking for the starting line-up, scored both goals.

“We are happy for a high win in the first spring game, we know that we used to struggle. In the first games we often struggle a lot, even in terms of results, we are happy that we have done it now. We scored five goals, we had a lot of other chances that we didn’t convert. From that point of view it was good,” said coach Jindřich Trpišovský at the press conference.

He was also happy with the excellent performance of the Dutch forward, who really enjoyed his goal. He ran straight to the fans, of whom he is a great favourite.

“He built on the mood he had at the end of the autumn and in the second half, which he brought here. We considered putting him in the starting lineup, but we remembered his history here, that his games have been more as a substitute.

We were counting on him to be confident and dangerous, that we would have a well-prepared game and he would come into it. Mick is in a great frame of mind, he is confident, he feels the support of the team and his teammates,” added the Slavia coach.

He can also be happy that he was the only one of the elite three who managed to score full points. Slavia leads the league by one point ahead of second-placed Plzeň and is currently the favourite to win the title.
