Vaclik on his way to the Bundesliga? According to Bild, he is to be number two at a traditional club
Tomas Vaclik is currently a free agent and is deciding his future. The 34-year-old goalkeeper would like to take part in the European Championships, which will be played in Germany next year, and he certainly doesn’t want to be without a club in the upcoming season. Negotiations with a traditional German club are now to take place.

Negotiations with a traditional German club are now to take place.
Tomas Vaclik has had a rather difficult season. After he got injured, he lost his place at Sevilla, then signed for Olympiakos in Greece, where the same thing happened to him. He spent the second half of last season at Huddersfield in the English second division.
The Czech goalkeeper made an impression in England, he got information from the club that various clubs were enquiring about him, but he is still without a contract. The Czech public associated him with a possible return to Sparta, but the club has already found a new goalkeeper.
The question is how many options the 34-year-old goalkeeper has. Now, however, the Bild news server has reported that Cologne, a traditional Bundesliga club with one of the best fan bases across Germany, is interested in him.
But there is a catch. Cologne’s clear number one is Marvin Schwäbe. In addition, Timo Horn and Jonas Urbig left Cologne in the summer, which means that Vaclik would only arrive as a number two and a replacement in case Schwäbe gets injured.
The German club reportedly offered Vaclik a one-year contract, now it’s up to him. However, Cologne fans agree in social discussions that if Vaclik wants to go to the Euros next year, it is definitely better to be a number two somewhere than to be completely without a commitment.
Moreover, it is not out of the question that the 34-year-old goalkeeper could make such an impression during training that he would catch at least some games. His arrival would be a win for Cologne, they would have two quality goalkeepers.
It is possible that a deal could be done this weekend. Unfortunately, there is no speculation about other offers for Vaclik.
