Tomas Vaclik has had a successful career. The now thirty-four year old goalkeeper won the title with Sparta, then headed to Basel, and thanks to his outstanding performances he was a regular in Seville for two years.
This was followed by a stint at Olympiakos and then a loan spell at Huddersfield, fulfilling his dream of playing in England. However, after finishing with the English team, he was looking for a job, which he eventually found in the American MLS.
The Czech goalkeeper was interested in the services of New England Revolution, which is currently in third place in the MLS Eastern Conference.
The Czech international is supposed to replace the current number one Djordje Petrovic, who moved to Chelsea for 16 million euros.
It should be noted that the American soccer top competition has started again after a month-long break, the Revolution played Montreal in the first match after a long break. And they lost 0:1.
The Vitkovice native signed a contract with the New England Revolution until the end of the 2024 season with an option for 2025, until he gets his P-1 visa.
“Tomas Vaclik brings a wealth of experience to our goalkeeping team, which he has tested in several European leagues. His skills will make him a valuable addition to our team,” said the club’s technical director Curt Onalfo in an interview with the club’s website.
“We look forward to his arrival and will quickly integrate him into the team as we fight to maintain our strong position in the conference and prepare for the playoffs,” Onalfo added.
