Václav Černý was until recently considered one of the greatest talents in the Czech Republic. But he has been unlucky with injuries and it is no different at 23 years old. What will happen to him and where will he play from the new season?
From 2014 to 2019, Václav Černý was a player for Ajax Amsterdam. He went through several youth teams and even got an opportunity in the A-team of the most famous Dutch club. He played 29 games there with a record of 4 goals and 6 assists.
Even in the club itself they considered him, but he was troubled by injuries and so Ajax lost confidence in him in a way. That’s why the Czech offensive all-rounder signed for Dutch side Utrecht.
But the move didn’t work out too well. Cerny didn’t play much and when Twente came to him after a year with an offer of a guest appearance, there was no reason to hesitate. The Enschede side put their trust in the talented player and it paid off.
Cerny put in great performances, scoring goals, collecting assists, becoming a key player. But only for half a year. Then he tore his anterior cruciate ligament and has been out since January. He played 17 games for Twente with 6 goals and 7 assists.
At the end of June, his guest spell at Twente expires, and he is under contract at Utrecht until 2022. So what will happen to him? Enschede are clear.
“We are negotiating his arrival permanently. It’s a risk because we don’t know when he will be fit, but we are taking the risk because we think Cerny is an important and attractive player whose game is a pleasure for the fans,” Twente technical director Jan Streuer revealed to Dutch news server Tubantia.
Streuer is aware that cruciate ligament injuries are a problem, but he believes that nowadays it is possible to dig out of such a problem quite solidly. “Moreover, his recovery is now going well,” the Twente technical director added.
So it seems that the 23-year-old offensive all-rounder does not have to worry about his future. We can only hope that he will continue his pre-injury performances.
