Team USA has already announced 11 of the 12 players it will send to the Paris Olympics to win a fifth straight gold. It should be noted that this is another very loaded team.
Team USA has already announced 11 of the 12 players it will send to the Paris Olympics to win a fifth straight gold. It should be noted that this is another very loaded team.
The U.S. will be led by stars of the caliber of Lebron James and Stephen Curry
The biggest star on the roster is playing legend Lebron James. The 39-year-old veteran and all-time leading scorer in the NBA and playoffs has not lost his way this season. He averaged nearly 25 points per game, something no player in the NBA has ever managed at such an advanced age.
The four-time NBA regular season MVP is participating in his fourth Olympics and first since 2012. He has two gold medals and one bronze in his collection from 2004. Another star of the team is Stephen Curry, who at 36 will represent the USA under five rings for the first time.
The best three-point shooter in NBA history has two golds from the World Championships, but the gold from the Olympics is a huge attraction for him. But the list of stars on the team doesn’t end there. Of course, missing from the list is sharpshooter Joel Embiid, who is still recovering from surgery. And he’s focused on the playoffs to help his Philadelphia team go as far as possible.
USA sends another Dream Team
James’ Los Angeles Lakers teammate Anthony Davis is also on the roster – the 31-year-old also has gold from both the Olympics and the World Championships. And like James, he will be making his first Olympic appearance in 12 years. Another piece to the puzzle is Kevin Durant.
He will represent the USA at the 4th Olympics in a row and every time he represented his country it was gold. Plus, of course, he was one of the best scorers on the team. Kevin Durant has climbed into the top ten scorers in the NBA this season. In addition, Durant and James scored a combined total of over 68,000 points in the NBA regular season alone!
The young blood will be represented by Devin Booker, who is again Durant’s teammate in Phoenix. These five players are the absolute best team that will appear at the Olympics in Paris. And there are other stars on the roster from the upcoming generation like Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday, a pair playing for Boston’s best team of the last two seasons in the regular season.
There’s also Anthony Edwards from Minnesota, Tyrese Halliburton, who can produce a lot of finishing passes, and Bam Adebayo from MIami. And that’s one more spot open. USA could easily put together 2 teams to go for the gold. And it looks like at least the basketball tournament in Paris will once again turn into an exhibition for the overseas team.
