Who can most improve their position in the team?
Jaroslav Šilhavy has called up seven players from Slavia and four from the championship team Sparta. For the first time, Bohemians striker Jan Matoušek has been included in the nomination, Jakub Jugas has made two appearances for the A-team in the past.
Václav Jurečka
Slavia’s top scorer is in a similar position this season to Jan Kuchta at this time last year. He is firing and can replace Patrik Schick, who is injured again. Jurecka has scored 12 goals in five games in the playoffs, you can’t sit a player like that.
Moreover, it doesn’t automatically mean Kuchta will be pushed out of the lineup, Jurecka is used to playing on the wing for Slavia. Both of them are very good in pressing, next to each other they could be dangerous for the opponent’s defences.
Lukáš Sadílek
It’s a paradox, but the downside for Lukas Sadilek is that his younger brother Michal has recovered and will probably play alongside Tomas Soucek. So Lukáš’ path to the lineup will be more likely if Šilhavý bets on a four-defender system.
Lukáš, like his brother Michal, does a lot of running around in the midfield, and he is much more creative and has a great kicking technique. His long carries, Sparta’s big weapon, may also come in handy when conquering the Faroe Islands.
Václav Černý
The public is looking forward to the Twente fighter perhaps the most out of the entire roster. The much-neglected speedster must be given a chance this time around, his 13+11 record earned him a spot on the Eredivisie Team of the Season. He is nominated for the Dutch league player of the month.
Cerny is one of the few Czech players who excels in one-on-one battles. Given the workrate of Jurecka and Kuchta, Cerny should have the freedom he needs to perform ideally. And he certainly deserves the basics.
