Slavia travelled to Berlin to face Union Berlin in the last game of the Conference League regular season. The Sešiovans only need a draw, but they won’t be playing for it, as it is a road to hell. How will the match turn out?

Slavia started their journey through the Conference League on a promising note, beating Union Berlin 3-1 at home. But then came two losses to Feyenoord and Maccabi and the problem was on the horizon. Fortunately, the Susians managed to beat Maccabi at home and got a point against Feyenoord, so they enter the duel with Union in a better starting position.

Slavia currently have 7 points, Union 6. The winner takes all and advances, the Red and Whites only need a draw. Slavia dominated the first leg, but the match was a bit distorted by a red card given to Jaeckel in the 40th minute.

Even in ten minutes, Berlin equalized to 1:1, but Kuchta and Schranz took the lead in the 84th and 88th minutes. At the weekend, both teams won their league matches, Slavia won 1:0 in Olomouc, while Union overcame Leipzig 2:1 to move up to sixth place in the Bundesliga.

Both teams scored the same number of goals in the group, Slavia scored 7:6, Union 7:8. Slavia is in great form, winning seven of their last eight games, drawing only once with Feyenoord. They have also kept a clean sheet seven times.

In the last 8 games Union have 4 wins, 3 defeats and one draw. Only twice have they kept a clean sheet, against Maccabi and Hertha.

Slavia know very well that they cannot afford to lose. Advancing to the spring matches is very important for the Susians, and Trpišovský will adapt his tactics accordingly.

In the first match, even until the red card, Slavia showed that they are a stronger team than Union and I think they will confirm it in the return leg.
